My philosophy of teaching
Similar to the idea of the Hippocratic oath, I believe teachers should also remember to help cultivate students' love of learning. I will make a difference in my students' lives, either negatively or positively, and I want to be guilty of the latter. It is important for teachers to remember children are just small human beings. They are a joy to teach when they have fun learning, feel understood, respected, are listened to, and are challenged from where they are as individual learners. Students will be more successful with their education if they believe in themselves and love learning.
In addition, it is imperative to build respectful relationships with our students and their families. When students know their teacher cares about them and wants them to do the best they can, they are much more likely to give their best effort. If students' parents know we care about their children and know they are our priority, they will give all the support they are able to towards helping us help their children learn and grow into responsible, productive, happy adults.
